2024, one of the years with the least housing construction: Canadevi – El Sol de San Luis

2024 has been one of the years in the 21st century in which the least housing has been produced, indicated Francisco Torres Ocejo, local president of the National Chamber for the Development and Promotion of Housing (Canadevi).

Torres Ocejo agreed with the report from the Federal Housing Registry that indicates that housing construction in the country is “slowed down”, as he indicated that this year is one in which the fewest houses have been built considering from 2000 to date.

He estimated that this year it could close with just 4 thousand homes in San Luis Potosí, “which is a very low number, if we continue making 4 thousand homes a year, we are not going to satisfy even the demand that we already have… I I think that even if we build 10,000 homes a year we will not satisfy the needs.”

The above because it stood out, San Luis Potosí is among the five states in the country with the greatest foreign and national investment, a situation that has generated that workers from other states and municipalities come every day with transfers of two hours in some cases, and they are the ones require housing close to sources of employment, “San Luis Potosí undoubtedly requires more housing than the national average.”

He recognized that in San Luis Potosí there is a supply of housing and residential type apartments, however the challenge is in social housing, “Infonavit has close to 500 thousand beneficiaries of which 90 thousand more or less have already exercised their credit , and more than 400 thousand have not used their credit” because the majority have low financing and cannot afford a house worth more than one million pesos.

Due to this, Torres Ocejo indicated that it is necessary to make alliances from Canadevi with the municipalities, Interapas, the Federal Electricity Commission and the state government, to be able to generate more options and provide affordable housing to workers.
