Transportation scholarships in San Juan: they will evaluate expanding the quota

The Government of San Juan launched registration so that 10,000 San Juan students can have a school transportation scholarship and it will remain open until June 30. The novelty is that once closed, the authorities will evaluate expanding the quota once it has been verified that the scholarships available for students and teachers are insufficient. The latest known data is that more than 22,000 San Juan residents had already signed up seeking to apply for the free ticket or a substantial reduction in the cost of the ticket.

The Minister of Government, Laura Palma, said that “we currently have a quota of 10,000 with which we cover a third of the transactions that schoolchildren carry out daily, but in the same way if when registration closes there were many left out who meet the requirements “If there will be an evaluation of expanding it.”

In addition, the official indicated that “the Government of San Juan has $150,000,000 to cover this benefit and this is added to the more than $2,000 million that it already contributes to support the price of the ticket after the Nation’s decision to stop cover it.”

Those who access the benefit must ensure that their family income does not exceed three minimum, vital and mobile salaries. Be a regular student at the primary, secondary, tertiary or university level; belong to a public or private institution and have a SUBE registered in your name. They must also comply with at least 80% in-person classes.
