With all the tables scrutinized, the Hacemos candidate obtained 37.15% of the votes and won by almost 13 points over the Primero Río Cuarto candidate, Gonzalo Parodiwho accumulated the 24.29%. Authoritarians don’t like this

The practice of professional and critical journalism is a fundamental pillar of democracy. That is why it bothers those who believe they are the owners of the truth.

Guillermo De Rivas, new mayor of Río Cuarto.

The only election that the province will have in all of 2024, and the first after the 2023 presidential elections, had strong seasonings in the previous one. On the one hand, Peronism arrived fractured after the candidates De Rivas and Nazario failed to reach an agreement that would allow them to share a list, which is why a great opportunity was presented for the radical candidate Parodi.

However, there was a smooth victory. De Rivas comfortably won in the city’s three electoral circuits, including in the Center district, a space historically linked to radicalism/Together for Change. Furthermore, the numbers showed massive support in Alberdi, a historically Peronist district, and in Banda Norte.

One of the The big winners of the day were Governor Martín Llaryora who strongly joined the campaign, traveled to the city repeatedly and announced important works for the future of Río Cuarto.

“Congratulations @guillederivas for the electoral victory in #RíoCuarto. The southern empire, the provincial Alternate Capital, will have a great mayor. I extend my greetings to the rest of the candidates who, together with the neighbors, participated today in a day of democratic commitment,” the governor expressed on his social networks.

Hard blow for radicalism in Río Cuarto

On the contrary, this result represents a tough defeat for Parodi who decided to municipalize the campaign and not receiving visits from Senator Luis Juez and the radical deputy Rodrigo de Loredo who did support the candidate through social networks.

De Loredo, present in Río Cuarto, detached himself from the defeat and assured that “the cities evaluate the future of the efforts and evidently chose to give continuity to the model,” said the deputy.

Mario Lamberghini, the libertarian candidate, who did not have the support of President Javier Milei, obtained 7% of the votescelebrated by force since it will allow him to be a city councilor.

The word of Juan Schiaretti

Another of those who spoke out through social network X was the former governor Juan Schiaretti: “I want to express my greetings to all the inhabitants of #RíoCuarto, who once again attended the polls to elect their mayor in an exemplary civic day. I congratulate the elected mayor Guillermo De Rivas who, for his qualities and vision, interpreted the path to follow from the municipality, and to all the candidates who participated in this electoral contest.”

Schiaretti highlighted the figure of Martín Llaryora and his work: “This victory shows that the excellent work of Governor Martin Llaryora, together with the mayors, has the recognition of society. My congratulations!”
