Córdoba: a 9-year-old boy intoxicated by cocaine consumption was hospitalized

A boy, only 9 years old, had to be hospitalized this Sunday night in the city of Córdoba, due to an apparent case of intoxication due to cocaine consumption.

According to the information accessed by Radio Universidad, the boy arrived at the Eva Perón Hospital, carried in his arms by his own father, who admitted him urgently to the ward.

He was transferred from his home in the San Roque neighborhood and after the first tests carried out at the Medical Center, it was determined that he had consumed a significant dose of cocaine, so he had to be hospitalized for treatment.

According to what was learned, the boy’s own parents admitted that their son has problems with drug use despite his young age.

Early this morning, the director of the Hospital, Dr. Guillermo Cecchi, gave details of the child’s health, indicating that they managed to stabilize him and that, in principle, his life is not at risk. In any case, he was hospitalized with oxygen therapy.

The doctor explained that studies must be carried out to determine if he has any consequences from drug consumption, since cocaine in a child, as in an adult, can cause neuronal damage in users.

“He is in good health, despite the fact that he is on oxygen therapy for ongoing lung disease, but he is responding well and his condition is good within the general picture,” Cecchi said in dialogue with the program. “Catch up” of University radio.

The doctor explained that the child was transported by his parents on his own, with a tremor similar to a seizure, and after several studies, the test for cocaine use was positive, so appropriate treatment was initiated.

In addition, Cecchi confirmed that he had no history of admission to hospitals for drug use and that the case has already been prosecuted, with the intervention of the Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Family (SENAF), so now it will be from the Justice Department where The steps to follow in the case will be determined.
