Four minors at risk of child exploitation were rescued by the Ibagué Metropolitan Police. The actions are led by the Children and Adolescents Group of the Metropolitan Police.

The National Police, through the Group for the Protection of Children and Adolescents, carried out in coordination with the administrative authorities, the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare ICBF, the Ombudsman’s Office, the Municipal Person’s Office, in order to carry out the National Crusade against Recruitment and Child Labor.
This initiative focused on strategic points such as traffic lights, public roads and parks in the capital of Tolima, with the aim of identifying and protecting minors at risk.
In the central neighborhood, they found two children, ages 13 and 10, who were alone on public roads begging.
In addition, a 13-year-old teenager was located accompanied by her 10-year-old brother, who were selling products such as beer, candy and cigarettes.
During the procedure, it was discovered that the teenager is four months pregnant. Given this situation, the intervention of the basic criminal investigation unit of the protection and special services section was immediately activated.
The four minors were handed over to the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF) for verification and restoration of their rights by a family defender, Major Ruben Valencia, commander of the Protection Police, referred to those forceful operations.
