Food and beverage prices would have remained unchanged during the third week of June, when registering an inflation of 0%as revealed by a study by the consulting firm Econometrica.

The measurement carried out focused on the study of 8,000 online supermarket prices and recorded that the category values ​​remained the same last week compared to the previous 7 days, something that It didn’t happen 30 years ago.

The report detailed that the food and beverage category had an increase of 0.1% in the last fifteen days, showing an increase of one tenth in the second week of the sixth month of the year and registering no variations (0.0%) in the third week.

Regarding the data for the first week, the report reflected that the cost of the category rose 1.2%. In this way, the consultant estimated that inflation for the month in food and beverages reaches 2.4%with one week left until it ends.

In this sense, during last month, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages slowed down compared to April, by falling from 6% to 4.8%, while those of alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose 6.7%, according to INDEC. Both categories were above the general CPI, which was 4.2%.

So far this year, Food and beverages accumulate a rise of 65.6%while alcoholic beverages and tobacco became 80% more expensive in the first five months of the year, according to the official INDEC measurement.

In the interannual variation, meanwhile, food and beverages registered in May a price increase of 289.4% nationwide. In the case of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, inflation in the fifth month of the year compared to that of the same month in 2023 was 266.3%.
