A guarantee control judge ordered the detention in prison of six alleged members of the Javier Yepes Cantero substructure, belonging to the ‘Clan del Golfo’.

Among those captured are Andrea Sarain Pérez Ortega, alias “Kataleya”, and Usiel Abisai Jaimes Morales, known as “Víctor” or “Carlos”. The detainees face charges of conspiracy to commit a crime for the purposes of aggravated extortion.

According to the investigation, since November 2019, this criminal group would have extorted various sectors, including livestock farmers, rice farmers, public works contractors and transporters.

Surprisingly, even citizens involved in street fights would have been victims of their economic demands.

The gang’s criminal activities extended throughout several municipalities of Córdoba, such as Sahagún, Chinú, San Andrés de Sotavento, Tuchín and Chimá. Besides, They are linked to the burning of a vehicle belonging to a contracting company in January of this year.

The captures were carried out on May 25 in different locations in Córdoba, during operations that included raids.

The National Police seized cell phones and documents related to intelligence and financial activities of the criminal organization.
