A nine-year-old boy was admitted to the Eva Perón Hospital in the city of Córdoba and it is being investigated whether the minor had cocaine in blood. The minor, who was admitted with a fever and is in good health, remains under medical observation.

The little boy’s father took him to the medical center thinking he had a fever, but tests revealed the presence of drugs in his body. This fact has caused consternation and surprise among health professionals and the general public.

The province’s Minister of Health, Ricardo Pieckenstainer, deeply regretted this incident: “This poor child was admitted in the early hours of today with a respiratory condition that the medical team considered may have caused drug use.”

The minister also explained that the case is being approached multidisciplinary and involving SENNA to help both the child and his family.

The director of the hospital, Guillermo Checchi, told Chain 3 that the child “was admitted for a diagnosis of an atypical seizure.”

Meanwhile, the boy’s father denied that his son had used drugs. “The father has denied that the child consumes, we are doing research the situation,” Checchi declared.

In addition, tests are being carried out on the little boy’s siblings. “We cannot know if he has consumed cocaine until we have tested his little brothers, who are also summoned,” added the hospital director.

Despite the worrying situation, they affirm that The child’s life is not in danger. According to Chechi, the child is now hospitalized. The exact date he could be discharged will depend on the evolution of his lung disease.

The National Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Family (SENAF) intervenes in the case.
