Teaching strike in Córdoba: without agreement there will be no classes this Tuesday in Córdoba

Last week the teaching unions announced it and during the afternoon it was confirmed that this Tuesday there will be no classes in a large part of the private and public establishments in the province. For now it is known that the Executive will seek to present a proposal to avoid the force measure already announced.

Although the government arrives with “better numbers” for teachers’ salaries, both the UEPC and Sadop confirmed that there will be a 24-hour strike.

On their social networks they published: “Tomorrow 06/25, we stop and mobilize for a higher salary proposal!” The march will start at 10:30, from the union’s headquarters on 25 de Mayo Street, in the heart of the Capital, indicated from UEPC.

The main leaders list several complaints with the Government, among which the recomposition of 100% of the increase in food registered by the cumulative Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the previous month and the elimination of the deferral of increases for retirees, reaching the much-prized 82% mobile.

Last Wednesday, the provincial assembly of public teachers rejected the offer of the administration of Governor Martín Llaryora, and announced a 24-hour strike, in a fight plan that includes one-hour assemblies per shift, for Thursday and Friday of next week, in case there is no agreement.

The hardening of the teachers’ position can be broken if there is a new proposal from the Province, which the union through its leadership considers “acceptable.”

The proposal very close to the claims

The provincial government already had an offer to increase teacher salaries while respecting the inflation of the previous month. But the union asks that it be cumulative and not nominal, and add an extra recomposition to begin to recover the purchasing power of teacher salaries lost during the first quarter of the year.

“We hope that there is a proposal that is overcome, we ratify the forceful measure. The proposal continues with black figures that do not impact retirements. Without being insufficient, it caused us to lose 30% of our income during the first semester,” remarked the head of the private teaching union, Professor Gerardo Bernardi.

Without putting figures, the aspiration would be less than one point above the figure measured by the provincial statistics and census agency.
