The Civil Guard, within the framework of the Hipomane operationhas dismantled a marijuana production center in a home in the town of Pinos Puente (Granada) in which agents have seized 883 plants in an advanced state of flowering and have recovered a stolen television in a service area of Córdoba valued at more than 25,000 euros.
During the operation, twelve double connections were also dismantled in homes that were illegally connected to the electrical grid. So far, a 36-year-old individual has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of drug cultivation and manufacturing, for a crime of electricity fraud and for a crime of theft, and the investigation of another eleven people for fraud of electricity.
This operation was started after verifying that there had been a increase in the number of power outages in the town of Pinos Puente. Apparently, the numerous illegal connections to the electrical grid made in order to power the infrastructure necessary for the cultivation of marijuana plants are responsible for these outages.
The Pinos Puente agents discovered, with the help of technicians from the electricity supply company, that there were at least twelve illegal double connections to the electrical network in as many homes in a well-known neighborhood of that town.
After carrying out a series of measurements in these homes, it was found that in one of them there was a excessive electricity consumptionso it was suspected that its residents could be intensively cultivating cannabis sativa.
After obtaining judicial authorization to search the suspicious home, the Civil Guard deployed a device throughout the neighborhood in which agents from the Pinos Puente barracks and the Citizen Security Unit of the Command participated.

When the latter secured the home, the investigators proceeded to search and found a plantation with 883 marijuana plants with flowering tops; 88 halogen spotlights; 6 air conditioning machines, 3 extractors with carbon filter and 1 fan.
