An incident that took place this weekend in the vicinity of Route 14, in Cerro Verde, Corrientes, triggered a violent attack on police officers by a group of young people. According to local media reports, the situation began with a complaint about excessive noise and disturbances, which led to a confrontation with alarming consequences.
After being alerted by neighbors, the agents approached the place where the young people were, who refused to turn down the music and showed signs of drunkenness. The police’s attempt to disperse them resulted in insults, pushing and even physical blows by those accused, going so far as to use whipping against the officers.
Despite the resistance and aggressiveness of the group, the police decided to withdraw to seek medical attention and file the respective complaints. Five of the attackers were arrested after the incident, while the search for the remaining people involved continues, with the possibility of more arrests in the coming hours.
Four officers suffered minor injuries as a result of the violent fight, in which at least eight young people actively participated. During Sunday night, two of the suspects were detained, while authorities continue working to locate the remaining suspects involved.
