Unter debates in Regina and prepares to vote if there are new days of strike next week

The union of education workers of Río Negro, Unter, has been debating since this morning the salary situation of teachers and the plan of struggle that began ten days ago, in a new session of its Extraordinary Congress that is being held in Villa Regina. Harsh measures of force are expected in the midst of the teachers’ confrontation with the government of Alberto Wereltineck.

After 8:30 p.m., Congress was preparing to vote on whether to deepen the forceful measures next week. The motions brought by the main sections were to carry out new measures in 48 to 72 hours.

The 18 Unter sections meet at the SUM of School 370 in Regina since this morning. «During the day, an analysis of the national and provincial situation will be carried outthe mandates of assemblies will be presented and actions to follow will be defined“In the absence of a joint meeting,” the union leadership anticipated.

The sectionals arrive with mandates of continue forceful measures with new strikes before and after the winter break, in the absence of a new salary offer from the Government, after the non-remunerative fixed sums per teacher that was proposed on June 12.

There are sectionals with motions to stop for 48 and 72 hours in the coming days and there are also proposals not to start classes after the winter holidays, which should resume on July 22.

The relationship between Unter and the Government escalated in tension since the plenary session of general secretariess decided to carry out a 24-hour strike on Friday, June 14, prior to the first long weekend of the month, and then ratified another strike on Wednesday the 19th.

The union demands a new call for joint meetings and a proposal that surpasses the last one made, which included fixed sums in five scales (from 60,000 to 90,000 pesos)depending on seniority, but by agent and not by position as had been achieved in the previous two months.

The governor Alberto Weretilneck responded harshly to the forceful measures of the Unter with the announcement of a discount on unemployment days and the warning that June salaries will not be settled with the sums offered.
