The government of Antioquia announced that Through the works for taxes mechanism, 15 projects will be financed in areas affected by the conflict in the department. This announcement was made after a meeting between the governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, mayors of the municipalities affected by the conflict and businessmen.

It is pertinent to remember that the Works for Taxes mechanism consists of taxpayers investing part of their income tax in the execution of projects with social impact and economic in the areas most affected by the Colombian internal conflict.

They report that 80% of the announced projects They are a product of the Proantioquia public-private platform in which 42 companies and 17 allies participate. María Bibiana Botero, executive president of the entity, stated that works for taxes represent the commitment of companies with peace.

“For us, works for tax represents the real commitment of the Antioquia private sector in that case with peace, It is a mechanism that arises from the peace agreement and is a mechanism that is aimed at meeting the needs of municipalities with fewer institutions, with less connectivity, most affected by poverty, by violence and that is where that commitment lies.”

Some of the projects consist in the improvement of road infrastructure, implementation of digital technologies in educational institutions, provision of sports and recreational equipment, construction of educational infrastructure, improvement of public services, among others.

Finally, the 15 projects will have an investment of nearly 207 billion pesos, of which 44% will be allocated to transportation, 42% to education, 12% to childhood, and 2% to housing in municipalities classified as Areas most affected by the conflict or belonging to Territorial Focus Development Programs.
