With the aim of advancing the regulation of the rules for the prohibition of single-use plastics, Starting next July 7, 2024, a new component of Law 2232 of 2022 will come into force.

This is the ban on six products, which, if they do not offer some sustainable alternative – such as being reusable, biodegradable or made with recycled raw materials – They may not be marketed or distributed in the territory from this date. Among those banned are:

  • Drink mixers and straws.
  • Pay point bags used to load or transport packages and merchandise.
  • Bags used to package newspapers, magazines, advertising and invoices.
  • Rolls of empty bags on commercial surfaces.
  • Plastic supports for inflation pumps.
  • Plastic cotton swab holders.

Despite the above, Acoplásticas specified that products such as reusable plastic bags, sacks or duffel bags They are not considered single-use products and can continue to be marketed.
