Huila has Departmental Queen of Bambuco

With a coronation evening full of joy, culture and a lot of Sanjuanero Huilense, Miss La Argentina Melissa Eugenia Rincón Hernández was crowned as queen of the opitas. The young woman will represent Huila in the National Reign of Bambuco.

In a very close competition, the representative of the La Argentina municipality, Melissa Eugenia Rincón Hernández, was elected as the Departmental Queen of Bambuco 2024. Next, Miss Garzón, María Camila Reyes Plazas, was crowned vicereine and Miss Giant, Sara Milena Rivas Flórez, was crowned princess.

Last night at the Parque de la Música, Jorge Villamil of the city of Neiva, the 20 candidates for the Departmental Reign of Bambuco performed the traditional Sanjuanero dance from Huila and competed to be the new sovereign.

The evening began with the interpretation of Sanjuanero Huilense by the Popular Queen 2024, Yenny Tatiana Melo Santofimio, then the Departmental Queen of Bambuco 2023, Liz Mariana Claros Peña, was called to the stage.

The qualifying jury for this evening was made up of the lawyer Eduardo Labbao, the businesswoman Nohora Ramírez de Leguízamo, the communicator Claudia Marcela Medina García, the lawyer Ana María Valderrama and the psychologist José Alfonso Vargas.

The opening by the candidates participating in the Departmental Reign of Bambuco, called “Huila, a folkloric and cultural paradise.”

Next, the first group of candidates was presented, there the representatives of the municipalities of Acevedo, Aipe, Baraya, Campoalegre, Colombia, Colonia Opita Antioqueña, Colonia Opita Afro, Garzón, Gigante, and Íquira, were called together with their peers to perform the interpretation of the Sanjuanero Huilense.

From there came the Latin American Andean music concert “Nueva Primavera”, led by maestro Faiver Olave Díaz, from the municipality of Pitalito, who made more than one person dance.

The second group of candidates to be called to interpret one by one his majesty the Sanjuanero Huilense, were La Argentina, La Plata, Neiva, Palermo, Pitalito, Rivera, Saladoblanco, San Agustín, Yaguará and Tarqui.

There was another musical space by the group Opitas a la Plancha, which definitely lit up the party, there from the stands, the VIP area and other places in the Music Park, they chanted and danced to their songs.

After the musical intermission, the jury called the 7 semi-finalists to the stage, they were:

  • Miss Aipe, Valeria Patiño Lemus.
  • Miss La Plata, María José Vargas García.
  • Miss San Agustín, Karla Daniela Ordoñez Bravo.
  • Miss Pitalito, Melida Lizeth Valencia Tierradentro.
  • Miss Giant, Sara Milena Rivas Flórez.
  • Miss Garzón, María Camila Reyes Plazas.
  • Miss Argentina, Melissa Eugenia Rincon Hernandez.

Later, the attendees received the farewell words from the Departmental Queen of Bambuco 2023, Liz Mariana Claros Peña.

Finally, and after a difficult decision, the jury chose the new Departmental Queen of Bambuco, who from today must join the activities and events of the National Bambuco Queenship 2024.
