Councilor denounces alleged 127% overpricing in tender for speed bumps

Councilman Alberto Vaca reported this Wednesday possible irregularities in a bidding process for the acquisition of speed bumps by the municipality of Santa Cruz. According to Vaca, The Mayor’s Office seeks to pay up to 127% more for these products than what other municipalities in the country pay.

“I have presented a communication minute to the mayor (Jhonny Fernández) recommending that this bidding process be canceled, to Don’t make the mistake of buying a very expensive product. that you can find it here in the city much cheaper,” said Vaca.

The councilor presented as evidence quotes from Bolivian companies that offer the same products at prices significantly lower than those established in the municipal tender.

“In Tarija this product costs Bs 118, in Montero they are paying 110 bolivianos and in Cochabamba Bs 98, while The Mayor’s Office of Santa Cruz has set a reference price of Bs 181“Vaca compared.

In addition to the surcharge, Vaca also questioned the additional payment for installation that is intended to be carried out in Santa Cruz. “In Cochabamba, the municipality is even in charge of the installation, while here they intend to pay almost Bs 50 for it,” he added.

The councilor urged the mayor to cancel the current bidding process and hold a new one with fairer prices. “If we lower this process and reconsider a tender again, where we lower the reference price, where we buy at real prices, we could buy many more products to serve many more neighborhoods,” Vaca proposed.

“We cannot allow the money of the people of Santa Cruz to be wasted. It is time to take care of our pockets and buy the same products at fair prices,” he insisted.

So far, the Santa Cruz Mayor’s Office has not commented on this issue.
