The Free and Productive Woman Fund, in alliance with the USAID Amazonía Mía Program, delivered the productive assets of the Women for the Sustainability of the Amazon program, which strengthened nine women’s business units in the departments of Caquetá, Guaviare and Putumayo .

The activities that were carried out together with the beneficiaries focused on two lines of work. On the one hand, the Women’s Fund accompanied the structuring of its projects, including gastronomy, coffee, crafts, jewelry, among others, in order to develop the business route with a focus on gender and environmental sustainability, to identify, structure , evaluate and select for co-financing productive units of environmental interest in the areas of project intervention. The second line focused on psychosocial support and the strengthening of these organizations.

This initiative had an investment of $1.6 billion pesos, of which up to $100 million pesos in productive assets were allocated for each business unit, which were delivered within the framework of the event held in Mocoa, Putumayo.

“For the Free and Productive Woman Fund, it is a great pride to bet not only on women, but also on green businesses and sustainability initiatives. In this program we were able to support 9 productive units with assets, technical assistance and empowerment of the beneficiaries in the departments of Caquetá, Putumayo and Guaviare,” stated María Fernanda Reyes, Executive Director of Fondo Mujer Libre y Productiva.

This project focused on innovative ventures, led by women, taking into account work with conservation models with a view towards adaptation to climate change, the efficient use of biodiversity and that promote business development with a focus on environmental sustainability.

“The support we received from the Free and Productive Women Fund in conjunction with USAID was very important because in addition to the equipment, we received training and workshops where we had professionals who guided us in vital processes such as obtaining health notification, which is key to take our products to other cities like Bogotá and Villavicencio,” says Yamile Durán, beneficiary of the program with her venture Mumi Amazónico.
