Córdoba traffic authorities have issued an urgent alert to drivers, urging them to take extreme caution due to dangerous conditions on the department’s roads. This warning comes after a series of recent accidents, including a tragic accident on the Planeta Rica – Montería highway that left four dead and a dozen injured.

The climate factor has been identified as a crucial element in the increase in accidents. Recent rains have left pavements wet and slippery, significantly increasing the risk of vehicle loss of control.

The commander of the Traffic Section of the Córdoba Police, Lieutenant Colonel Elkin Morantes, pointed out that: “unfortunately, the recklessness continues. The climate issue is not being taken into account, with wet floors that generate dangerous conditions.”

Given this situation, a special call is made to all road users to adapt their driving to the weather conditions. It is recommended to reduce speed, increase following distance and avoid sudden maneuvers, especially in areas where accumulation of water or fog has been reported.

The authorities have also announced an increase in traffic controls and awareness campaigns to reinforce the importance of respecting traffic rules, especially in adverse weather conditions. It is expected that these measures will help reduce the alarming number of accidents on Córdoba roads.
