New professionals received degrees at UniGuajira Maicao headquarters

Happy as they had wished, the classmates Armando Betancurt, José Ramírez, Angie Manjarrez and Jorge Ospino appear, who went out to celebrate with their families.

68 young men and women from different programs offered at the University of La Guajira, Maicao campus, received their degrees accompanied by their parents, relatives and teachers.

For the directors, this is a great dream with which these people reward their aspirations as new professionals in the region by achieving a professional degree to put themselves at the service of the entire society.

The new professionals belong to the areas of accounting, administration, social work, bachelor’s degrees and system engineering.

Jorge Luis Ospino Pastrana

Jorge Luis Ospino Pastrana is one of those new professionals who jumps onto the stage of System Engineering, very proud of all the sacrifice he made and happy to have received the support of his family, his partner, his uncles, teachers and all the people who contributed to that achievement.

“It is a very beautiful moment, I have no words to describe what I am feeling right now, in this time that has marked a milestone in my life,” Ospino said, very motivated.

For Robles, the rector, once quality was assured for institutional accreditation purposes, the University is preparing to structure the project to expand coverage to provide the university with programs different from those that already exist in Maicao, as well as in Fonseca and Villanueva.

“We hope that in 2025 we can offer two or four new programs for this society that so needs higher education,” said Robles, while announcing that an infrastructure plan is being consolidated with the Ministry of National Education.

At this moment there are 20 new programs that the regional alma mater has been working on, programs that must be extended to the different locations in order to diversify the offers, seeking to ensure that young people have greater access to higher education.

Many of the young people who have just received their degrees in Maicao, like Ospino Pastrana, are already thinking about master’s degrees to strengthen their preparation.
