Engie Chile receives environmental approval for its first transmission project in the O’Higgins Region

This is the New Totihue Sectioning Substation and New 2×66 kV Totihue – Rosario Line project, located in the Rengo commune, which aims to meet the needs of increasing electrical infrastructure for the development of the country.

Wednesday, June 26, 2024.- Engie Chile has taken a crucial step in the O’Higgins Region by receiving the favorable Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) for its electrical transmission project: the Totihue Sectioning Substation.

This achievement was achieved after a unanimous vote by the Environmental Assessment Commission (Coeva) on the Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) presented by the company.

Located in the commune of Rengo, this initiative marks a relevant milestone as Engie Chile’s first transmission project in the region, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable energy development throughout the country.

The project covers the construction of a new sectioning substation, by sectioning the 2×220 kV Candelaria – Puente Negro line. At the same time, it also considers the installation of a new 66 kV double circuit transmission line, between the Rosario substation (Property of CGE Transmisiones SA) and the new Seccionadora Totihue substation.

“We are very happy with the approval of this project, which marks a milestone in our portfolio as it is the first that we will carry out as a company in the O’Higgins Region. This initiative will strengthen the electrical infrastructure and, at the same time, provide security to customers in the commune of Rengo and surrounding areas,” said Demian Talavera, Managing Director of GBU Networks Andes – Chile and Peru at Engie.
