Two crew members of a light aircraft with registration HJ-097, apparently owned by the Aeroplus Los Campanos aviation school and company, were the fatal victims of an air accident recorded on the morning of this Wednesday, June 26, in the jurisdiction of the municipality of Juan de Acosta, in the Atlantic coastal area.
The Police reported that they became aware of the accident around 8:30 in the morning, after residents of the Santa Verónica township alerted about the aircraft crashing to the ground in the El Jobo sector, within the Santa Rosa farm.
Two versions were preliminarily handled: one, that the pilot had tried to return to the school base, located in the area, after an apparent mechanical failure. But there was also talk of a request from the crew to return to their starting point due to bad weather.
What the Atlantic Police did confirm is that, so far, “the causes that caused this plane accident are unknown.”
It should be remembered that in September of the previous year, an emergency was reported in the Tubará area, also in the Atlantic coastal corridor, when a light plane, registered HK1437G and from the same company, had to land on the track of the Motorsports Park racetrack, located on the Vía al Mar, near the Caño Dulce spa.
The pilot and his companion, who were unharmed, reportedly stated that the aircraft had a technical failure, so they rushed to find an area to land.
And in January 2022, in the same municipality of Tubará, a small plane suffered an emergency and had to land improvised in a fenced area.
At the time, the Civil Aeronautics indicated that it was an ultralight aircraft, with registration HJ326, that was carrying out a recreational flight from the Los Campanos aerodrome, located in Tubará, Atlántico, which made an emergency landing in an unprepared field, apparently due to mechanical failure.
After landing, the entity said, the aircraft overturned and suffered significant damage. The Pilot and a passenger, the only occupants, were unharmed.
“The Accident Investigation Technical Directorate ordered the transfer of an investigator from Bogotá, to advance the initial phase of this event in order to determine its causes,” Aerocivil said.
