The soprano and tenor announced their separation, ending a decade-long relationship.

The couple, who began their relationship in 2014 after their joint performance in Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and married in 2015, shared a statement with the Associated Press about their separation.

“After 10 years together, we have made the difficult but amicable decision to separate,” Netrebko and Eyvazov stated in a statement issued Wednesday by Netrebko’s London-based manager. “We will remain good friends, united in our love for Tiago, and we look forward to our announced and future stage collaborations.”

Netrebko, 52, has a 15-year-old son, Tiago, from her relationship with bass-baritone Erwin Schrott, with whom she was between 2007 and 2013.

Last visit of the couple to Argentina

Last year, Anna Netrebko returned to the Teatro Colón to play Leonora in Giuseppe Verdi’s “Il Trovatore.” The production, which was presented in a semi-edited version, featured an outstanding cast, including Yusif Eyvazov as Manrico and Olesya Petrova as Azucena. The musical direction was carried out by Giacomo Sagripanti. The minimalist staging, with a focus on music and drama, highlighted Netrebko’s participation, reaffirming her status as a global opera star.
