The Colombian Youth Philharmonic Orchestra will perform in six cities in Colombia in the first days of July. The group will join forces with singer Valeriano Lanchas and Colectivo Metanoia, a group of visual artists, for the concert series. Lina González-Granados, conductor of the Los Angeles Opera, USA, and winner of multiple awards such as the ECHO Special Award from the prestigious ‘La Maestra’ competition, will conduct the young orchestra for the first time.

Many of the members who are part of the orchestra first met La Joven by seeing her in concert on national tours and today have accessed a comprehensive training development cycle that encompasses high-level orchestral practice, as well as an exploration to different fields of application of the music career, such as entrepreneurship, cultural management, musical pedagogy or social innovation,” said Juan Andrés Rojas, executive director of the Young Philharmonic of Colombia.

The group of visual artists is in charge of creating scenic visual proposal with l technology.ight art around Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 2. “This concept was born from the situation the composer experienced while writing this work, in which each of its four movements involves a journey of emotions ranging from depression to personal fulfillment and which, today, results in a powerful message of resilience in response to the ongoing global crisis we are currently experiencing,” reads a statement.
