After representatives of the Government of Antioquia toured the municipalities of Venecia, Abriaquí and Fredonia, seriously affected by the heavy rains, Governor Andrés Julián Rendón confirmed from the La Amalia village of Venecia that A system will be installed that allows monitoring the Galápago and La Tigra streams, that generated the avalanche that so far leaves seven missing and dozens of victims in that municipality.

“We also decided to carry out permanent monitoring of the streams in the upper part in order to early detect any situation that allows us to avoid situations that we regret,” said the governor.

The director of Dagran, Carlos Ríos, confirmed that Experts, such as engineers and geologists, arrived in the three municipalities, who will intervene in the emergency and work on preventing similar situations. He also indicated that progress is being made in characterizing the delivery of humanitarian aid to all the families who suffered from the rising rivers and the avalanches and floods that resulted from this.

“From Dagran we committed ourselves to humanitarian aid, psychosocial support and of course the whole issue of Maquinaria Amarilla, we were with the community, We obviously sympathize with the effects they had, We left geologists, engineers and the entire technical component naturally to be able to help the Municipal Risk Management Council,” explained the director.

“They are very serious situations, bank losses, mass movements, many landslides and we are certainly making it passable so that all Antioquians have the possibility of being well this weekend,” said the secretary.

These emergencies of the last few hours in the southwest left three people died in Abriaquí, at least three missing in Fredonia and seven more in Venice, municipality where the Cerro Tusa festivities would be held this weekend, which were canceled precisely due to the seriousness of the situation.

Throughout the rainy season 262 emergencies have occurred in the department, leaving nearly 4,500 families affected.
