The Minister of Production of Chubut, Digna Hernando, valued the participation of Governor Ignacio Torres in the seminar on industry and energy that is taking place in Italy. In dialogue with FM EL CHUBUT, she praised the arrival of investments related to sustainable energy, including wind farms, which “are going to be large.” Likewise, she raised the need to have trained labor, since “there is a contracting offer that does not find the recipients.”
“We have very important characteristics and we need the arrival of investments, the Governor’s visit to Italy and the contact with large international investors brought the visibility of the Province,” said Hernando, while describing it as “very important” that ” “The Governor, in person, develops these ties and shows the interest of the Province so that the investments become a reality in the shortest possible time.”
Possible wind farms to be installed in Chubut “are going to be large-scale, with a large number of mills,” he highlighted, clarifying that “it is not true that wind farms generate labor only in the construction of the park, they require permanent maintenance “which implies specialized labor, and today we do not have it available in the region and it must be generated.” The economic activities of Chubut “are as diverse as its territory, there are possibilities of accessing jobs through training or finding the link between demand and supply for all types of skills,” said the official.
UNEMPLOYMENT
Regarding the unemployment situation in the Trelew-Rawson conglomerate, released by Indec this week, Hernando said that “it is not a new issue, it has been going on for a long time and it is our great challenge, to generate the establishment of new investments and the development of existing ones.”
Regarding the latter, he mentioned: «We have to train the unemployed workforce in the region a lot because jobs require some type of knowledge, and we are working on that with the Universities and the Ministry of Education. In many areas we have a very important demand for labor in food production. On the other side we have a lot of unemployed labor. “There is not only unemployment, there is also a hiring offer that does not find its recipients.”
