Today the Atlantic Departmental Police Commanda megastructure designed to strengthen security in the 18 municipalities of the department that are not part of the metropolitan area of ​​Barranquilla.

The structure had an investment of $25,717 million, and it is a strategic work that will be key in the fight against crime and the promotion of peaceful coexistence in the region.

The complex, strategically located on the road that leads to the town of Cascajal from Sabanalargacovers an area of ​​5,969 square meters and will house more than 250 police officers distributed in various specialties.

From its facilities, which will operate 24 hours a day, all the operational capabilities of the National Police will be deployed, including the Sijin, Gaula, Traffic, Carabineros, Goes, Environmental Police, Purple Patrol, Childhood and Adolescence, as well as the Central Command, among other specialized units.

The project is the result of an inter-administrative agreement between the Atlantic Government and the Ministry of the Interior.

The second phase of the command is currently underway, which will expand its capacity with an additional construction of 12,504 square meters, including facilities such as accommodation, casino, gym, auditorium and specialized offices.

The Governor of the Atlantic, Eduardo Verano, has highlighted that the new command will not only strengthen the police response, but will also foster safe and peaceful environments for all Atlanticians.

This event marks the beginning of a historic investment by the departmental administration, which will allocate 200 billion pesos during the four-year period to strengthen the infrastructure, mobility, and technology of the police institution.

With this initiative, the Department’s Police Command is consolidated as one of the most advanced infrastructures in the country, prepared to face the security challenges of the 21st century and contribute significantly to the peace and well-being of the region.

The Atlántico Police Department has coverage in 18 municipalities, 43 townships, 40 villages and 390 neighborhoods, with a potential of 424,286 inhabitants according to the 2005 census, for which the National Police has three districts, 18 stations, two substations, a CAI and with its specialties such as: Surveillance Police, Mobile Police Squad, Intelligence Section, Criminal Investigation, Protection and Special Services (Childhood and Adolescence Police, Tourism, Protection of Dignitaries, Environmental and Ecological, and Traffic and Transportation).
