Within the framework of the Productivity and Competitiveness Forum 2024, the results of the competitiveness index of the Department of Nariño were presented, with the aim of identifying areas of improvement and opportunities that strengthen business capabilities, productivity and SMEs in the region.

The event was attended by representatives of national entities, including the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, headed by Luis Carlos Reyes, iNNpulsa, Colombia Productiva, the Private Council on Competitiveness and the Directorate of Innovation and Business Development of the National Planning Department. 102 indicators grouped into 13 pillars of the National Competitiveness Report 2023-2024 were analyzed, where Nariño obtained the 21st position with a score of 4.57 out of 10, ahead of the departments of Caquetá, Córdoba and Sucre.

The report highlights that Nariño currently leads the “Basic and secondary education” indicator, thanks to the notable performance of its teaching staff. However, he faces significant challenges in the innovation indicator, where he recorded a score of 1.22 out of 10.

With the implementation of strategic line No. 3 “Food sovereignty, productivity and competitiveness”, approved in the Development Plan, Nariño Region Country for the World, this government is working to lead programs that boost the regional economy, promote reindustrialization and activate productive systems, focused on the popular, social and solidarity economy, which will transform the economic system in the next four years and strengthen the commercial relations of entrepreneurs, micro-entrepreneurs and productive units.
