An emergency situation broke out on the morning of Thursday, June 27, on the road that connects Bucaramanga with San Alberto, specifically in the San Benito de El Playón sector, Santander, when a fire engulfed the cargo hold of a tractor-trailer loaded with coal.

According to eyewitness accounts, the fire presumably originated from the rear side of the vehicle, spreading rapidly through the transported cargo. Fortunately, the header was separated from the trailer in time, thus preventing the fire from completely consuming the unit.

The rapid intervention of the local community and firefighters was crucial to contain the explosion and prevent further damage. As of 9:30 am today, vehicle traffic on the road was restricted to a single lane while work was carried out to remove the damaged vehicle.

Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the fire, while clean-up and debris removal work is ongoing to fully restore traffic in the area.
