The ex-president, César Gaviria, once again attacked the high peace commissioner, Otty Patiño, for his actions. This time, the former president asked that Patiño be investigated for the statements he gave to W Radio, in which he stated that relevant investigations had to be carried out to clarify the operation in which alias Hermes, one of the leaders of the Second Marquetalia, died.

“It is time for the newly elected Attorney General and the Supreme Court of Justice to take up this matter and investigate it. It is not possible for the peace counselor to overstep the rule of law in the way he insists on doing. He did not mention President Petro because I assume that the peace advisor is acting according to what he considers to be his peace policy, However, the fact that the counselor is acting outside the ruling of the Constitutional Court, which indicates what President Petro can do with his policy of total peace, is dangerous and warrants that his actions be investigated,” Gaviria said in a statement.

In addition to this, the former president also requested that Patiño’s position be investigated regarding crimes that have committed crimes against minors by men of the National Liberation Army.

“Another matter that must be investigated, to continue with the position of counselor Patiño, are the interfering statements to the head of an ELN block command, asking his group to recruit children, and the rescue of a boy and a girl by the army and that they were delivered to the ICBF, who, apparently, They had been in that group for several months, a matter that deserves a statement from at least the Minister of Defense. “Such a request breaks the agreement made with the EMC that emphatically prohibits recruiting minor children,” he added.

Finally, He questioned the role of international organizations that have not acted against these alleged irregularities on the part of Patiño.

“It is worrying in this regard that the International Criminal Court, which, with the support of the Security Council, is part of Colombia’s peace process with the FARC, continue to keep absolute silence, it is quite worrying and strange”, he concluded.
