Cocktails and Habanos combine to celebrate Cuban bartenders (+Photos)

The presentation of the new cocktail took place at the Hotel Nacional and brought together a host of personalities linked to gastronomy, habanosomelier and bartenders to together celebrate the birthday of the longest-running association of bartenders in the world.

The cocktail, created by award-winning bartender Alejandro Bolivar, is based on Havana Club Smoky rum, one of the brand’s recent innovations, whose traditional rum production was modernized with a finish – which gives it originality – in smoky Scotch whiskey barrels that give it unique smoky tones.

Created by Cuban Rum Master Asbel Morales, Havana Club Smoky is a dark and powerful rum, born from exclusive blends of rum bases, aged in the San José distillery’s warehouses.

At the same time, to make the Centenario drink, 24 herbs were mixed such as oregano, basil, cilantro, cinnamon and some notes of cocoa and coffee, and other ingredients that, according to Bolívar, tasting the cocktail represents a privilege and a unique opportunity. for those attending the pairing.

While preparing the mixture, he explained that a specially prepared bottle of the Centenario cocktail would be delivered to the current president of the ACC, Eddys Naranjo, to be opened on the Association’s next 100th birthday, accompanied by a certificate of presence. of the participants.

But the pairing would not be complete without the presence of a Cuban cigar. For the occasion, the Habano San Cristóbal La Punta was chosen, belonging to a vitola dedicated to Havana – the country’s capital – and declared a Wonder City in 2016.

San Cristóbal La Punta is one of the four vitolas presented in 1999 as a tribute to the history of the city. It has a figurative format and delivers a placid smoke with all the smooth to medium flavor characteristic of the brand.

This is how the celebration of the centenary of the ACC became a unique experience, with a mix of tradition and modernity, the result of the perfect marriage of three of the deepest cultural traditions: rum, Habano and cocktails.

The ACC, formerly the Bartenders Club of the Republic of Cuba, has as its relationship body the Ministry of Tourism, and is a member of the International Bartenders Association, and is sponsored by the Cuban rum Havana Club.

This association is registered as the legal representative of the Cuban canteen school before the Ministry of Justice and the School of Hospitality and Tourism.
