The Government of Mendoza received a slap in the face from the United Union of Education Workers (SUTE), after the head of that union, Carina Sedanorejected the second salary offer in the framework of the reopening of collective bargaining negotiations in 2024.

The proposal presented by the Executive Branch did not have major changes, and only included an improvement in the initial teacher salary.

The Government’s offer was the same as what was known last Monday, 15% in three parts: 5% for July, August and September, figures very far from the salary recomposition that the union has been demanding. In addition, the Government committed to raising the “Guaranteed Provincial Net Minimum Teacher Salary” to $400,000.

“Today we approached SUTE with a new proposal for a guaranteed starting teaching salary for the month of July of $425,000. Likewise, for those teachers with more than 29 years of seniority and covered by the guarantee clause, it will be remunerated.”explained the director of Salary Policy of the Government of Mendoza, Mariana Lima.

The next meeting will take place next Monday, July 1, at the Undersecretariat of Labor.
