The campus occupation ended on Wednesday Juan Gómez Millas from the University of Chile.
Through a joint statement, authorities of the Faculties of Arts, Sciences, Social Sciences, Communication and Image, Philosophy and Humanities and the High School Academic Program of the Juan Gómez Millas Campus, together with student representatives, announced that “it has been possible today to open the Campus and restore in person their academic work.”
In this regard, they pointed out that, “we have worked based on the principles of democracy and participation, making it possible to establish a dialogue between participants and thus resolve the issues under discussion with specific implementation proposals, addressing the diversity of requirements with a sense of institutional common good.”
“The negotiation allowed establishing minimum limits and floors common, considering the legitimate differences between students and academic authorities,” the document continues.
Finally, they concluded with a call to the university community. “We extend a Open invitation to the entire university community to participate in this work agenda and build a better Campus for its more than 12 thousand members, thus contributing to a University of Chile in which its entire community feels considered and advances along the paths of dialogue.”
