A strong police operation culminated in a shocking accident in the city of San Justo, when a black Toyota truck, fleeing from the police, ended up crashing into a service station at the intersection of National Route 11 and 9 de Julio.
The chase, which began due to a violation on the RN11, intensified when the driver of the truck fled, unleashing a series of events that alarmed the local community. The raid took place at high speed and culminated when the vehicle violently impacted one of the service station’s pumps, causing significant damage.
Joaquín, a service station employee and witness to the incident, recounted the tense moments experienced: “We were standing in the cabin when we saw the vehicle coming at full speed. My colleague, who was nearby, had to break the glass with his leg to escape the impact. It was a tremendous blow, the police personnel arrested the driver immediately after the crash.”
The impact not only destroyed part of the service station’s infrastructure, but also put the lives of employees and customers present at risk. “My partner was rushed to the San Justo Hospital. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but the situation could have been much worse if the vehicle had hit the diesel pump squarely,” Joaquín added.
The head of Regional Unit 16, Commissioner Mancini, was present at the scene coordinating the actions after the accident.. “The chase began on National Route 11 and extended south. The driver made an unexpected turn, returning along the same route before losing control and crashing here”Mancini explained to the media present.
The driver of the van, whose identity has not been revealed, was arrested and taken to police custody. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the chase and subsequent accident.
The service station staff, visibly affected by the incident, highlighted the speed and effectiveness of the police intervention, which, although it could not prevent the collision, did manage to avoid a greater tragedy.
