The President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Dennis Francis, arrived in Cuba yesterday with the aim of verifying the country’s contribution to multilateralism, cooperation, and ongoing regional and global challenges.
He stressed this upon his arrival at José Martí International Airport in Havana, and specified that his visit is part of the organization’s agenda to also examine the Caribbean island’s continued active commitment to the United Nations.
He stated that we are living in times of many challenges, and stressed the intention of a very detailed and comprehensive exchange on additional measures that the UN must take in order to advance and execute significant actions in aspects such as the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Cuba, in view of the Future Summit, which will be held in September 2024.
When referring to the attempted coup d’état in Bolivia, Francis confirmed that the agnu advocates unrestricted respect for democracy and stability (PL).
