Quimsa recovered, defeated Boca and got match point in the semifinals
Quimsa showed another display of character and beat Boca at La Bombonerita, 78-73, to regain the lead in the playoffs of the National League semifinals. Ramírez Barrios and Brussino were the top scorers with 13 points.
Quimsa started better with “Taya” Gallizzi getting stronger inside to take a 9-3 lead. Then the home team improved in attack and was effective with three-point shots to take a 14-10 lead. The first half was very even, with both teams defending hard, but it was the home team who won the first set 20-17.
In the second quarter the “fusion” improved in defense and Brussino was on fire with the point shots, so that the Santiago team went ahead 32 to 25, with 4′ left in the first half of the game. While in Boca Sebastián Vega had a good time scoring 8 points in a row (two triples), and he did not let the visit slip away on the scoreboard. But Quimsa closed the quarter better and went into the long break winning 44-36.
At the restart of the game, both teams were erratic on offense, but Quimsa stayed ahead thanks to Robinson’s effectiveness 49-39 with 5 minutes left. In the final part, Boca came with everything and, through Vega and a triple from Schattmann, they got within six, 62-68, with 7′ left. The final minutes were electrifying, but the “fusion” was patient to define the match in their favor, winning 78 to 73 and taking a 2-1 lead in the series.
