Eight 9-millimeter caliber bullets were found at the scene, evidence of the violent attack.

According to police sources, Contreras Durán was allegedly known in the area for his involvement in drug trafficking, operating mainly in the Santa Ana neighborhood and using Las Llantas Park as a sales point. This illegal activity would have been the motive behind the violent act, related to disputes over control of the territory.

A resident of the neighborhood lamented the situation, pointing out that the park, originally intended for family recreation, had been taken over by illegal activities. She said that Contreras Durán was well-known in the area, but he was not a homeless person; his family owned a fast food business.
