The National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa), through Resolution 694/2024 published today in the Official Gazette, accepted equivalences from third countries in terms of chemical or biochemical active substances in phytosanitary products.

The measure occurs within the framework of the deregulation and simplification plan carried out by the national zoophytosanitary organization.

The rule establishes the conditions and requirements to request recognition of equivalence of active substancesTechnical grade approved by the competent authorities of the United States, Mexico, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil, which are considered to be of high sanitary and phytosanitary surveillance.

This way, Equivalence will be recognized in those cases in which the technical grade active substance to be registered comes from the same manufacturing establishment. and has the same minimum purity or higher than that registered in the mentioned countries.

According to the agency, this is the first step in a process that will include other areas of Senasa and is part of the work being carried out with the Secretariat for Simplification of the Cabinet of Ministers to consolidate the agency’s regulatory framework, clarify standards, improve efficiency, simplify procedures and reduce management times.
