Without a doubt, one of the most anticipated festivals of the year takes place in the middle of the year. These are the famous Fiestas de San Juan and San Pedro, where thousands of Colombians celebrate culture and religion through music, dance and different events. In this way, Neiva, Huila, sees Colombians arrive to celebrate during the Fiestas de San Juan and San Pedro. This is why this great event is recognized in the country and has become part of the national tradition. Such is the fame of this cultural encounter that people from other countries fly to Neiva to attend.
For this 2024 the Festivities of San Juan and San Pedro take place between June 14 and July 1. In addition, its 63rd version is held. These festivals began years ago for religious reasons and related to the Spanish conquest. By then a tribute to Saint John the Baptist was being held. Today, the celebration is for Saint John and Saint Peter. In this way, the Bambuco Festival was born in San Juan and San Pedro in Huila.
The interest generated by this festival means that Huila takes advantage of it to show its cultural and folkloric potential. In addition, it is of great importance for the department in terms of tourism and trade. In fact, it has managed to bring together 6,000 artists. The renowned Ana Gabriel and Clarín León will be delighting the attendees this year.
