In a recent statement, Colonel Diego Edixon Mora, commander of the Ibagué Metropolitan Police, referred to the ongoing investigation into the murder of Rubén Villarraga, known as ‘Chica Linda’, in the El Vergel neighborhood. Villarraga had an alleged relationship with Jhon Edison Padilla Lozano, alias ‘Camilo’, who was murdered in a rural area of San Luis and belonged to the ‘Los Pericocas’ gang.
Colonel Mora explained that this connection is one of the hypotheses that are being developed in the investigation. “Well, that is one of the lines of research, one of the hypotheses that are being developed taking into account some relationship that these people had in previous years and that is possibly with this relationship,” he said. Furthermore, he emphasized that this case is only one of several lines of investigation that are being carried out in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office, and they hope that there will soon be more significant advances.
The commander also clarified that the incident is considered an isolated event in relation to other events in the city. Villarraga, who apparently came from Cali or Purificación, was just settling in Ibagué. “Even this person was only now settling in the city, apparently coming from Cali or Purificación, where he has had a place to live in different places,” said Mora.
As for Padilla Lozano, his membership in the ‘Los Pericocas’ gang, dismantled in 2018, was confirmed. When asked if Villarraga had also been part of this gang, Colonel Mora responded that this is a matter that is still under investigation. , with the collaboration of the Tolima police. “That is what we are dealing with in terms of investigation, also verifying according to information from the Tolima police, we are in that investigative matter,” he concluded.
