Rugby Seven: Argentina’s roster and two key returns for Paris 2024
In the list drawn up by the coach, the most notable news, although it was expected, consists of two returns of two key players in the team’s performance: Marcos Moneta and Matias Osadczuk.
Moneta, the team’s star player, suffered a fracture in the fibula of his right leg at the beginning of April and had to undergo emergency surgery. After missing the final phase of the Rugby Sevens World Tour in Madrid, he will be back in time to join the Argentine team.
Osadczuk also missed the final tournament in Madrid due to physical problems. Knee problems, where he suffered a cruciate ligament tear seven years ago, had kept him out of the Rugby Sevens Grand Final, but he will now be able to form part of the team that will seek a new Olympic medal.
While, Joaquín Pellandiniwho had suffered a dislocated shoulder during the tournament in Madrid, also recovered in time and was included in the list.
Gómez Cora determined that Santiago Alvarez Fourcade be the captain of the team. For the Jaguares player it will be his third participation in the Olympic Games, as for German Schulz and Gaston Revolwho already anticipated that after Paris 2024 he will retire from rugby sevens.
Paris 2024 will be the debut in the Olympic Games for players like Pellandini, Thomas Elizalde, Augustin Fraga, Matteo Graziano and Tobias Wade.
