The constant traffic accidents that daily leave people injured and sometimes claim lives throughout the city of Santa Marta, were not an impediment for a couple to carry out a move on a motorcycle while persistent rain fell in the different sectors. from the capital of the department of Magdalena.
The irresponsible and reprehensible event occurred on the dangerous Troncal del Caribe, at the height of the roundabout that connects to the Curinca neighborhood. The incident was recorded by a citizen who was traveling in a private vehicle as a griller and in the images you can see how the driver and the griller, both without helmets, were carrying a suitcase and at least 6 bags loaded with various items.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police Traffic and Transportation Section of Santa Marta learned of the incident and stated that, “we are going to intensify awareness campaigns at the points we have called ‘hot spots’ where road accidents occur most frequently, in order to sensitize car and motorcycle drivers not to engage in this type of dangerous actions that have often left victims to mourn and injured people,” said the National Police officer.
The action carried out by the couple has been rejected by thousands of netizens, “it is incredible how to see these two people do not measure the danger; Not happy, with all the items they were carrying, they risk exposing their lives with this wet national highway,” said Ana Bernal, through her Facebook social network.
It should be noted that, on this same national highway, last Monday, June 24, an older adult identified as Eduardo Antonio Díaz Ortiz, 77 years old, lost his life after being hit by a motorcyclist near Cootrasmag.
The elderly man was initially injured and was taken to the emergency room of the Bahía clinic, where he was confined in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but died due to cardiorespiratory arrest that occurred due to the severity of the injuries.
