The Selection started the Copa America 2024 With the right foot. The victories against Canada by 2 to 0 and Chile by 1 to 0 placed the Albiceleste in first place in the Group A. The first two group stage matches were tight. Canada and Chile closed down well and held on, but Argentina managed to break down both defenses and take the three points. The good news for the national team is that all three goals scored were from Lautaro Martinez (2 and Julian Alvarez (1).

The team led by Jorge Fossati is going through a totally different moment. In their debut they drew goalless against Chile and on the second round they lost to Canada 1-0. Therefore, Peru is forced to win against Argentina and hope that the North Americans do not win.
