Juan Carlos Montenegro Arjona, general director of Invías, highlighted the seriousness of the situation during the official announcement made in Bogotá, explaining that The cracks detected in the “Chorro Blanco” bridge, located between kilometers 81 and 90, represent an imminent danger to the structure and the safety of users.

“This is a difficult but necessary measure to protect the lives of Colombians who use this road. The instability of the terrain and the structural problems in the bridges force us to completely close the Transversal del Cusiana, including the prohibition of circulation for pedestrians and motorcyclists”stated Montenegro Arjona.

The closure will specifically affect the section between kilometer 81 and kilometer 90 of the road, where the greatest risks have been identified. In light of this situation, the Ministry of Transportation has established alternative routes to maintain connectivity between Boyacá and Casanare:

– Bogotá – Villavicencio – Yopal: For all types of vehicles.
– Sogamoso – Belén – Socha – Sácama – La Cabuya – Aguazul: For vehicles weighing less than 25 tonnes.

These alternative routes have been designed to ensure the safe mobility of users while long-term options are evaluated to resolve the situation on the Transversal del Cusiana. The National Government emphasized that Periodic monitoring and evaluation will continue to be carried out to ensure that the measures taken are effective. and adequately protect the population.

In addition, Invías recommends that the community pay attention to information on the status of these and other roads in Colombia, available through the toll-free number #767 from any cellular operator.
