The Municipality of Córdoba has completed the widening of Manuel Baigorria Avenue, in the southern part of the city, and it has already been opened. The works, which began in October 2022, covered from Cunín Street to Paso de los Andes, adding one lane in each direction to total two lanes in each direction.
The intervention was carried out at a point where vehicles were concentrated and created a bottleneck. In this way, the capacity of Manuel Baigorria now equals and gives continuity to Avenida Cruz Roja Argentina.
Official information indicates that “the work facilitates transit to and from the west zone to the center and also benefits residents of the Ferrer, Residencial Vélez Sarsfield and Altos de Vélez Sarsfield neighborhoods.”
The municipal report recalls that “during the process, the expropriation and reconstruction of 11 homes located where the route was widened was carried out. It included the adaptation of sewage, stormwater, lighting, water, gas and energy services to the new sidewalk layout.”
The relocation of Health Center No. 39 in the Ferrer neighborhood was also carried out. Part of it was demolished and rebuilt from scratch, right in front of its current location, on Obispo Zenón Bustos and Ferreyra streets, almost at the corner of Baigorria.
The space has a surface area of 157 square meters, four new offices and was built with the modern Stell Frame system, which guarantees its durability and resistance.
The tasks respond to an urban planning agreement in 2014, which did not materialize in practice because the Municipality of Córdoba had not made expropriation and/or donation agreements with the owners of the land.
