In recent years, animated films have chosen to hire influencers and other types of stars, instead of voice actors who know how to do a great job in these types of productions. Although we have talked a lot about this topic in Mexico, It seems that in Spain the same thing is finally happening in the new film Garfield.
Through its social networks, Sony Spain confirmed to the voice cast that it will participate in the dubbing of Garfield into Spanish. Here it was revealed that Santiago Segura, Alaska and Pepe Rodríguez will be part of the film. Alaska is a singer, while Pepe Rodríguez is a Master Chef judge, and the public is not happy with the decision to include these two.
The main problem that the Spanish public has with this dubbing cast is that they are not dubbing actors, but traditional actors, influencers, singers and television stars, so the quality of this project is in doubt for some. In this way, many internet users have indicated that the English version, where Chris Pratt plays Garfield, will be their preferred choice.
Let us remember that this topic has already been discussed a lot in Mexico. Notably, when it was announced that Luisito Comunica would be Sonic, there was no shortage of criticism. We only have to see how the Spanish public will react to this work in general when the movie of Garfield hits theaters on May 1, 2024.
