Steven Spielberg, at 77 years old, is one of the great minds in film historywith a career that began in 1976. Throughout its history, it has tired of showing that it can enter any genre, but with science fiction it achieves very special results, like the one we saw in Ready Player One.
The film is It premiered in 2018 and is an adaptation of the novel by Ernest Cline which bears the same name was a success at the box office. Warner spent $175 million on the project and it reached $583 million worldwide.
Although it was a commercial success, not many details were known about a sequel. It took six long years for the director to make it official that this will finally happen.
These statements were made by Spielberg to Showbiz 411where he clarified that he will no longer be the director of the second part, he will only be working as a producer and at the moment they have nothing planned for 2024:
“We’re in a discovery phase, trying to see what’s next.”
Let us remember that there is already a second book on which the new film will possibly be inspired, with a similar plot, where the protagonist must put on a virtual reality helmet to search for a new and mysterious prize, something that was criticized by the specialized press in its moment.
Although it is good news, we will have to wait a few years with so many projects on the horizon from Spielberg.
