There is a horror movie from the 60s that still disturbs us and now they will show that it happened before those fateful events.
In 1968 it premiered The Devil’s Seed (Rosemary’s Baby)a horror film Roman Polanski with a great cast led by Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes, Ruth Gordon, Sidney Blackmer and Maurice Evans. Now, 56 years later, they are preparing a prequel that will be titled Apartment 7Aso he will tell us what happened in that house in New York where Rosemary Woodhouse and her husband lived.
The new horror film will be directed by Natalie Erika James (Relic, 2020) and the cast includes Julia Garner, Dianne Wiest, Jim Sturgess, Kevin McNally, Marli Siu, Andrew Buchan and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith. The story will be set in New York in 1965 and will focus on a young woman who wants to succeed as a dancer but is not having a good time, either professionally or personally. Therefore, when a strange couple promises her fame and fortune, she finds herself swept away by dark forces.
What is The Devil’s Seed (1968) about?
This horror film takes us to the heart of New York, where Rosemary Woodhouse, played by the talented Mia Farrow, and her ambitious husband Guy, played by John Cassavetes, move into an old apartment building with a disturbing past. Rosemary, eager to start a family, soon finds herself embroiled in a disturbing atmosphere full of secrets and mysteries.
After becoming pregnant, the young woman begins to experience strange events and have terrifying nightmares. As her pregnancy progresses, Rosemary becomes obsessed with the idea that her neighbors, the Castevets, an eccentric and unfriendly couple, have sinister plans for her unborn child.
Her suspicions intensify when she discovers that Guy has joined a strange cult and that the Castevets seem to have an unusual interest in their baby. Isolated and gripped by fear, Rosemary embarks on a desperate search for the truth, struggling to unravel the dark conspiracy surrounding her.
The horror film is characterized by its disturbing atmosphere and its ability to generate tension through suggestion rather than explicit horror. The film explores themes such as paranoia, psychological manipulation and fear of the unknown, creating a truly disturbing cinematic experience.
It must be remembered that there is another updated version of The Devil’s Seed 2014 starring Zoe Saldana and Patrick J. Adams.
