The actor played the Marvel vampire slayer in the 90s and has now been replaced by Mahershala Ali

The reboot of ‘Blade’ has once again faced a new obstacle and fans are no longer the only ones wondering if the film will ever see the light of day. More than 25 years after starring in the original film, Wesley Snipes reacted on social media this weekend to the news that director Yann Demange has left the project of the MCU, which was already suffering from abandonment and other various problems.

Vampire Resentment

The new film would star Mahershala Ali as the main human/vampire hybrid, but The classic action hero does not seem to support the new election, judging by his ironic post in X:

“Blade, oh sir, sir, people are still looking for the secret ingredient, riding snowmobiles in the middle of a day of traffic is a little tough. Day walkers made it look easy, right?”

Snipes’ announcement comes after learning that Demange had amicably left Marvel Studios’ upcoming reboot, which will likely cause further delays to production and its November 7, 2025 release date. Ali is still attached to play Blade after the reboot was first broached in 2019, when he and Marvel boss Kevin Feige announced the film at San Diego Comic-Con, He can even be heard in a post-credits scene from 2021’s Eternals.

Snipes responded to the casting news in a statement to ComicBook.com, calling Ali “a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come. Inshallah, one day we will work together.” Production on the reboot was originally planned for fall 2022 before director Bassam Tariq left due to scheduling conflicts. ‘Blade’ suffered further delays last year due to the WGA strike and Eric Pearson is writing a new script, following Ali’s complaints about the quality of the first version.
