BEWARE, SPOILER ALERT. Starring Aron Piper, “The silence” (“Muted” in English) is a Spanish psychological thriller from Netflix that follows Sergio Ciscar, a young man who is released 6 years after murdering his parents, when he was still a minor. During that time, he has not said a single word or collaborated with justice, so his motivations for the crime and his current intentions are a mystery.

The psychiatrist Ana Dussuel and her team seek to determine his potential danger to society and learn the secrets hidden in his mind. To achieve this, they get the judge to approve his probation and allow them to observe them 24 hours a day without him noticing.

The silence” begins with Sergio’s parents falling from the balcony of their house while their son seeks and comforts his adoptive sister Noa. The only way to find out what really happened that night, other than the protagonist’s confession, is to access Noa’s phone.who recorded everything on video.

WHAT HAPPENED AT THE END OF “THE SILENCE”?

In addition to Pastor Nataniel, Sergio gets in touch with Marta, a young woman who gave Noa piano lessons and who sends letters to Ciscar while he was in the juvenile detention center. Although she may cost him his relationship with Eneko, Marta approaches Sergio, who opens the floodgates of the past and talks about his life before the tragic event.

After seeing that her object of study trusts Marta, Ana asks her to help her get Noa’s videos. To convince her of her, the psychiatrist assures her that she is trying to prove that Sergio is good and that these images are the only way to prove it.

When Eneko finds out about his girlfriend’s deception, he gathers a group of friends and goes to hit Sergio. Ana takes advantage of the uproar to ask Marta to download the videos. Although she gets the images, her experiment is in danger because Eneko files a complaint for assault and Ciscar returns to the detention center.

To save her studio, Ana sends the video of the fight to Nataniel, who uses it to get Eneko to withdraw the complaint. Sergio is released once more, but Cabrera, the deputy inspector in charge of monitoring the investigation, is determined to sabotage Dr. Dussuel’s project and press Mikel to delete the recordings.

While her team solves the problems, Ana is determined to keep going despite the fact that Marta told Sergio that he is being watched, so she searches Blanca’s files, the mother of the protagonist of “The silence” and confirms that the one-time mentor was conducting experiments on her son and that he supplied her with drugs that her husband Javier obtained from the laboratories with which he collaborated.

WHAT DOES THE END OF “THE SILENCE” MEAN?

Sergio, did you really murder your parents?

The members of Ana’s team believe that she is too involved in the investigation and that instead of checking if Sergio is ready to reintegrate into society, she seeks to prove his innocence, and they are right, since the psychiatrist is obsessed with the mentor’s son .

Ana discovers that she and Sergio have more in common than she thought. She, like Ciscar, was a very intelligent girl who was mistreated by her mother. In the Sergio case, Blanca discovered that she had violent episodes, so she tried to help him.

While Sergio offers his aunt money to get Noa’s number, Ana agrees to involve her daughter, who is precisely the girl that Blanca and Javier adopted, in the experiment. When Ana receives Sergio’s message, she decides to go to her house and talk to him.

Sergio finally decides to tell what happened that night. Apparently Blanca was planning to medicate Noa, so he and her father tried to stop her. In the struggle, Javier accidentally pushed his wife and then threw himself off the balcony out of guilt. However, that is not the truth, since Noa appears and tells that Blanca was only trying to help him and that that day, he had a mental block and murdered his parents.

“El silencio” ends with Noa asking her mother to come home, but Ana decides to stay with Sergio, who takes her to the balcony. Shortly after it is shown that someone falls from the balcony, although it is not clear who it is, everything seems to indicate that it is Ana.
