Ariana Grande has finally released the video for ‘the boy is mine’ and it includes a fun cameo from Brandy and Monica. As anticipated in the teaser, Ariana becomes a catwoman in search of the love of the city’s mayor, played by Penn Badgley.
The video is about how Ariana is creating a love potion aimed at Max Starling, the mayor. Brandy and Monica, acting as news anchors, report that Starling plans to end the city’s rat problem by releasing all the stray cats. “That’s fucking brilliant, so hot,” Ariana exclaims. Without a doubt, the best thing about the video clip is the revelation of the singer as Catwoman, stylized in a black leather suit and with a whip included.
A few weeks ago, Grande uploaded a preview of the video clip for the song, which would be the third single from ‘eternal sunshine’. From the caption of the post – a simple “meow” – to the last shot of the clip, everything pointed to Ariana becoming a dangerous cat woman.
‘The Boy Is Mine’ has been one of the audience’s favorites since its premiere. Inspired by the Brandy and Monica classic, the song estimates its current streaming numbers at around 160 million. This was preceded by the successful ‘yes, and?’ and ‘we can’t be friends (wait for your love)’.
